The Indian Red Cross Society, Dist Br: Nizamabad is functioning from 1986. The District Collector in the President, D.M. & H.O. is the District Secretary and D.P.O. is the treasurer, Sri. Pochaiah, Dist. Health Educator [Rtd] is Asst. Secretary [ who will look after the Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch: Nizamabad work] and Doctor. P. Ram Mohan Rao is the Managing Committee Member of IRCS, A.P. State Branch: Hyderabad. In Order to function its activities the Dist: Br: Nizamabad has been formed sub Committees, such as JRC, YRC, Blood Bank etc. The District Br. Conducts E.C. Meeting once in [3] months and General Body once in a year. 1] Fund raising Programme: The funds will be collected by means of membership enrolment and donations, and utilized for financial assistance to victims of Natural calamities etc. The Present position of balance amount is as follows.
2] Membership enrolment: Total Member ship enrolment of IRC, Dist. Br. Nizamabad is as follows.
The Dist. Br. has got Gold Medals and rolling shield for Member ship enrolement in the year 1996-97 from then onwards every year the District is getting Gold Medals, both in membership enrolment and Advertisements for annual report of IRCS A.P. State Br; Hyderabad. 3] Blood Bank: The foundation stone [bhoomipuja] for IRCS , Nizamabad Blood Bank building in the premises of the Mandal Revenue Office , Nizamabad was laid by H.E. the Governor of A.P. Sri. Sushilkumar Shinde on 7-4-2005 for the construction of Blood Bank. An amount of Rs. 10.00 Lakhs was sanctioned from the NSS funds, to start the work. Sri. Vijaykumar E.E.[SW] has started the work under the supervision of J.C. and the work is in progress. The Dist. Branch has conducted the blood donation camps and collected 1325 units of Blood from the 1325 donors and it was also decided to conduct some more camps in this year. Blood group testing also conducted for [ ] persons. 4] Relief Assistance: The society donating old and new cloths, utensils and cooking materials to the victims of Natural disasters or other calamities such as fire incidents and road accidents. This year it is decided to extend maximum help to the victims, by giving first Aid training to the youths and collecting relief material from the people. Try cycles were also distributed to the disabled persons. 5]Health checkup camps: It is decided to conduct health checkup camps in remote areas for minor ailment treatment and to educate them about AIDS and communicable diseases and how to protect from them and also participated in F.W & Immunization and other Programmes. And also conduct a cleft lips and air lips camp , Cancer detection camp at Dist. Head Qtrs Hospital, Nizamabad. Eye camps spectical distribution , dental clinics and distribution of drugs etc. 6]Red Cross School:- IRCS Dist. Br. Nizamabad has adopted the Government Upper Primary School, Nizamabad. Every year provided uniform note books and other stationery articles to the students of the school. Every month there will be a health chekup camp for the students by Dr. Ramchander and the Midday meals Programme is also running promptly. 7] AIDS Awarenes camps: AIDS awareness camps will be conducted and to emphasis the people about the dangerous disease – AIDS ; for this every Gram Panchayat has got condoms boxes affixed [Nirodh box] road side dabas, Cinema halls, Hotels, Fairprice shops, Liquor shops , Arracks shops etc., and to educate them about the use of contraceptives. 8] Mandal level IRCS activities: In Order to function IRCS , Dist: Br. activities, it is decided that the IRCS activity is not only pertaining to a limited area; but also entire District. Taking in to account of the above theme all Mandals will have a separate Committees to run. [09].Ambulance: On the request of District Collector, the State Bank of Hyderabad [Nizamabad Br.] has donated an Ambulance worth Rs. 4,26,000/- to IRCS , Dist. Branch: Nizamabad , A driver is appointed on consolidated salary Rs. 1500/- month. Ambulance is intended to shift the patients to the hospitals at the lowest charges, comparatively with other diesel ambulances in the town. 10] First Aid training camps: The District branch has given first aid training to [40] youths, and [19]. Junior Red Cross students and their services can be utilized during the time of accidents. This year it is proposed to train more persons especially beside the villages of National High ways. 11] Junior Red Cross: Sri. D. Shanker, Physical Instructor of Government High School, Nizamabad selected as JRC co-ordinator from I.R.C.S., A.P. State Br:, Hyderabad and he has assured that the JRC Member ship enrolment will be increased from now onwards. District Collector entrust Member ship enrolment work of JRC to the D.E.O., Nizamabad and C.E.O., Z.P., Nizamabad. 12] Youth Red Cross:- Dr. Vasundhara , Lecturer of Women’s College, Nizamabad selected as Youth Co-ordinator from I.R.C.S. A.P. State Br: Hyderabad. She has also assured to membership enrolment in Youth Red Cross from now onwards. District Collector entrust Member ship enrolment work of JRC to the D.Y.W.O., Nizamabad and STEP & D.V.E.O., Nizamabad. 13] Activities of this year 2005-06
